CMMS solution migration from Dynamics NAV to Business Central
Dimo Maint CMMS is a simple and scalable maintenance management software. It runs as a cloud-based portal and connects to Business Central in its CMMS for precise and efficient management of corporate assets.
The custom connector to Microsoft Dynamics NAV not only allows NAV users to access essential functionalities of the DIMO Maint CMMS, such as management of equipment, planning, resources, stocks, purchases, budgets, etc. but also to:
- have a clear and comprehensive vision of their activity;
- optimize the management of repositories regarding equipment, stocks, and suppliers;
- avoid errors between the commercial management of Microsoft Dynamics® NAV and the CMMS;
- apply the rules set by commercial management into the CMMS at each step of the inventory and purchase management processes.
The project was to migrate from a Business Central C/AL code extension to a Business Central AL code extension.
The original C/AL extension wasn’t built by us, so migrating such an extension without either knowledge or tools was a challenge for us.
Simplanova has worked together with Dimo Maint to migrate their existing connector from on-premise based Business Central v14 to Appsource to allow their customers to connect with the latest version of Business Central.
Simplanova team advised us about patterns to think about and evolutivity concerns for our extension. For example, using api object types was recommended.
Karolis, part of the Simplanova team, delivered the needed package in time, even earlier than the planned final date. A delivery meeting was organized to show us the content of the package to be sure nothing had been left behind.
Karolis took time to answer my questions after I worked on the delivery package, even if it was not actually related. It was a real help for our team as advice was given from outside the initial scope of the collaboration.
Dimo Maint CMMS is now ready for Microsoft Business Central SaaS with their connector available on Appsource.
We actually leverage Simplanova’s experiences because working with them avoids hurdles of the learning curve of migrating old source code to target code. Not only about the knowledge but also about the environments out of the box provided by Simplanova for our testing purpose.
