News from Microsoft: the official name and launch date for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

For the last year, we have lived with a code name “Dynamics 365 Tenerife” and were waiting for the news from Microsoft. A couple of days ago in Msdynamicsworld.com and other Official Microsoft sources was announced that the official name for “Tenerife” will be Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and it will be launched on April 2, 2018, in 14 countries.

With Dynamics 365 Business Central, as it is already communicated by Microsoft, you can get an end-to-end view of your business:

–       Manage your financials – Accelerate financial close and report with accuracy, while ensuring compliance.

–       Automate and secure your supply chain – Increase visibility across your supply chain and gain greater control over your purchasing process.

–       Sell smarter and improve customer service – Maximize revenue opportunities and better serve customers with built-in recommendations.

–       Keep projects on time and under budget – Manage budgets and monitor the progress of your projects with real-time data on available resources.

–      Optimize your operations – Streamline your manufacturing and warehousing operations to deliver products on time and reduce costs.

With the code base almost identical to Dynamics NAV 2018; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central offers the same integration with Office 365, Dynamics for Sales, Cognitive Services, Power BI and Flow.

For Dynamics NAV as well to Dynamics 365 Business Central with over 160,000 companies and millions of users enjoying Dynamics NAV (with historically still used nameNavision!) worldwide, we can expect that the name change adoption will be really slow compared to the rapid uptake of the applications.

Dynamics 365 Business Central will be generally available on April 2, 2018, in 14 countries – United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, and Finland, purchased through Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners. Australia and New Zealand will be generally available beginning July 1, 2018.

As we already see here, according to USA market pricing per user/month will be $70 and for Premium version – $100 per user/month.

Please notice that the „Tenerife“ name change does not apply to Microsoft Dynamics NAV. At least not now. The Spring 2018 release, will still be called Dynamics NAV. But according to Microsoft’s roadmap and some rumors around, after NAV 2018 R2, Business Central will be the name for both on-premise and cloud will the same. The changes for Dynamics NAV can reach us with the upcoming version after 2018 R2, somewhere around 2018 Q4.
