Since the information technology industry has been growing fast lately, the demand for experienced staff has been increasing along with the industry. Companies take different approaches to manage the demand, lets explore those approaches and the demand for experienced IT staff of today’s companies.

Survey: developers – the most critical role for organizational success

A survey by TEKsystems (surveying 900 IT department managers in US and Canada’s companies) has shown some interesting findings. According to the survey, the absolute most critical IT roles for enabling organization to achieve success were the following:

1. Programmers and Developers

2. Project Managers

3. Help Desk / Technical Support

4. Software Engineers

5. Architects

Developers are in high demand

The developers were also the hardest role to fill according to the same survey in both 2013 and 2014. Therefore, the biggest expectation of salary increases are in this role: 69% of developers and programmers are expecting a salary increase in 2014 (47% were expecting an increase in 2013).

However, employing qualified, professional IT staff to meet the current demand is not always feasible at such high salary expectations. Therefore different approaches to this problem should be explored. Nearshore outsourcing is one of the options and, according to the survey by Deloitte, 76% of IT companies use outsourcing and 78% of them are satisfied with their choice.
